Project Statement
Claire Weetman works on projects with a wide range of community groups, from very young children to older adults in a variety of locations using a wide range of techniques. She is also an experienced project manager, having co-ordinated arts and health, community and public art projects in the North West region.
The artist holds an enhanced CRB disclosure. For full CV information or a full list of past projects, please download the links to the left.
Projects can range from being based on her own practice, as in Big Draw 2006, where young people experimented with drawing, using paint markers on glass and acetate, to being based on more traditional art making methods. Claire will often combine simple techniques such as drawing, photography or collage to allow groups to create original artworks inspired by a set theme (see Ellergreen or Tower Hill).
Claire is tutor to a regular art class, instructing adults on techniques in painting and drawing, and often runs sessions across the region for adults and children showing simple art techniques and encouraging people to be creative. Sessions are always adapted to the ability of the group, so that everyone can participate, whatever their capability.
Contact Claire if you would like to discuss your requirements for a project for your community; she will devise a project in response to the requirements of your organisation, the potential participants and other partners.
